Britney & Christina and Laser Fun new shows in the CyberSphere
Release Date: 8/26/2002. Expired: 9/30/2002
Two new laser shows will make their debut in the CyberSphere Digital Theatre at The Renaissance Center in September.
The Britney and Christina Laser Show, featuring the music of pop stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, will be featured at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Laser Fun is a family friendly show featuring a variety of music from Van Halen and Pink Floyd to The Beatles and John Denver that will be shown at 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Rounding out the September laser show schedule is long-time favorite Pink Floyd’s The Wall, featuring music from one of rock’s all-time top selling albums.
Tickets for all laser shows are $6.
“Britney and Christina are two of the hottest stars in the pop market right now,” said CyberSphere Director Ron Stinson. “With some of their top hits cranked up in our 14,000-watt sound system synchronized with a full-dome laser experience, including 3D animation, video and digital effects, I am sure this will quickly become one of our most popular shows.”
The show features five songs from each pop diva, including Britney’s “Oops! I Did It Again,” “Crazy,” “Lucky,” “Sometimes” and “Baby One More Time,” while Christina sings “Genie in a Bottle,” “Come on Over,” “So Emotional,” “I Turn to You” and “What a Girl Wants.”
The afternoon Laser Fun soundtrack includes a little bit of everything: country, pop, rock, reggae and even the theme from Jurassic Park, while showing off the full visual capabilities of the four-story domed theatre.
Accompanying the laser, video and digital effects is the music of Rush, The Tokens, Pink Floyd, Sheb Wooley, John Denver, The Beatles, Jimmy Cliff, Ray Parker Jr., Lee Greenwood, Van Halen, Carl Stalling and Hollywood maestro John Williams.
“This show is exactly what its title says, Laser Fun,” Stinson said. “Everyone will find a good time with this eclectic mixture of music with some wonderful visual effects.”
The Wall has been a regular part of the CyberSphere schedule since The Renaissance Center first opened. For years rock fans have kept Pink Floyd songs such as “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Hey You” and “Comfortably Numb” on the airwaves and The Wall in the album charts.
“Our Pink Floyd shows are always popular and people come back to see them each time they enter the rotation; these shows define the best of the laser experience” Stinson said.
The CyberSphere’s planetarium show for September is The Search for Life in the Universe, which shows at 7 p.m. Fridays and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children.
Leonard Nimoy, best known as Science Officer Spock in the original Star Trek television series and subsequent movies, narrates this informative show detailing how science has and continues to search the outer reaches of the universe for signs of other lifeforms. Eavesdrop on signals from space, delve into emerging solar systems and learn how scientists and amateur astronomers explain mysterious cosmic phenomena.
