Release Date: 1/11/2010. Expired: 1/29/2010

The Renaissance Center is excited to present the Eric Mintel Quartet performing an amazing set in a Tribute to Dave Brubeck in the Performance Hall on January 29, 2010 at 7pm in the Performance Hall. Tickets for this event are now on sale!

The quartet includes Yamaha endorsed performing artists Eric Mintel on piano and Nelson Hill (former lead alto sax man for Maynard Ferguson) on alto sax, flute and soprano sax. Dave Antonow on bass and Dave Mohn on drums supply the solid rhythm section for this must see ensemble.  This concert will feature music from their  newest CD, 50 Years After...A Tribute to Dave Brubeck,  which includes Brubeck classics like “Blue Rondo a la Turk”, “Three to Get Ready” and Paul Desmond's classic “Take Five”.  The concert will also feature new music by Eric including “Keeping the Faith”, “Just Happened” and many others.

17 years ago, sitting in his garage on a hot summer day in July playing on an old twangy upright piano, Eric Mintel's passion for jazz culminated in an idea of putting a group together to play and most importantly introduce more jazz to a general public who might not have listened to jazz or even knew what it was about.  Since then, the Eric Mintel Quartet has traveled the country performing at concert halls, colleges, universities, cultural centers, high schools and other venues spreading their love of jazz music and its importance in our everyday lives.  In 1998 the band performed at the White House by special invitation of President Bill Clinton. Since then, they have had over 10 concerts at the Kennedy Center.  Eric was a featured guest on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz on NPR.

This fantastic performance is one not to miss! So mark your calendars for January 29th at 7pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for children. Call 615.740.5600 to book your tickets today!
