The 2nd Monday Night Recitals in the Rotunda series features free monthly performances by professional musicians, faculty and accomplished students from area universities, and community ensembles. Sponsored by The Harp School, Inc. and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the concerts are at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in The Renaissance Center’s rotunda.

The resident chamber ensemble at Belmont University, the Belmont Camerata Musicale features some of Nashville’s finest performers, including Artistic Director Elisabeth Small on violin, Matt Manwarren on piano, violinist Celeste Myall, cellist Keith Nicholas and Robert Thompson on guitar.

Now entering its 18th year, the Belmont Camerata Musicale typically includes university faculty members and guests who perform regularly at the Belmont Mansion as well as other venues around Middle Tennessee. The group is known for challenging, imaginative programs that can include anything from classical to classic rock, from Calypso to Brazilian, from Celtic to Appalachian traditions.

A Belmont Camerata Musicale performance can include a string quarter arrangement of the Jimi Hendrix classic Purple Haze as well as a piece by Baroque masters such as Bach and Telemann.

The Oct. 10 performance at The Renaissance Center will include Piano Trio by Maurice Ravel and Histoire du Tango by Astor Piazzolla.

Upcoming performances by the group include its annual Camerata Christmas, a community favorite set for Dec. 5 and featuring vocalist Kathy Chiavola, as well as spring performances celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth.
