Release Date: 5/6/2005. Expired: 5/24/2005

The Renaissance Center’s music ensembles will present their spring concerts during May.

The center’s four vocal groups and two community bands present at least two concerts a year in the center’s 450-seat Performance Hall as well as perform at functions outside the center.

The Renaissance Center’s Training Choir and Children’s Choir present their spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, in the Performance Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 13.

Directed by Jenny Nolan Diamond, the Training Choir is open to all first and second graders without audition. The children rehearse once a week during the school year with the focus on teaching students the fundamentals of music reading and vocal technique.

Diamond also directors the Children’s Choir, which is an auditioned choir for students in third through sixth grades. Auditions are held each fall.

The Renaissance Center’s Community Chorus and Chamber Choir, both directed by Diamond, will present their spring concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, in the Performance Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 13.

The Community Chorus is an opportunity for amateur or experienced adult singers to participate in a well-trained vocal ensemble. Participation is by audition each fall.

The Chamber Choir is a smaller ensemble that was created to perform more difficult choral pieces and also requires an audition.

The Renaissance Center’s Community Concert Band and Community Jazz Band will present their spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, in the Performance Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 13.

Both ensembles are directed by Darin Cochran.
