According to Billboard Magazine, “Alison Brown is not your typical banjo picker.”
A banjoist since the age of 10, the Nashville native and Harvard graduate left California as an investment banker to tour with Allison Kraus and Union Station from 1989 through 1991, picking up a Banjo Player of the Year award from the International Bluegrass Music Association along the way. She has also performed on the stages of the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall.
Her unique sound on the completion of her fifth solo album, Out of the Blue, is a combination of classical, jazz and samba.
