Kate Carr and Patsy Wade Perform In Recitals In The Rotunda

The Renaissance Center presents Kate Carr, Soprano, and Patsy Wade, piano and harpsichord, on Monday, Feb. 19, 2001 7 p.m. for the Recitals in the Rotunda Series. These recitals take place every other Monday evening and are free and open to the public.
Carr is a graduate assistant at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee where she is earning her MM in vocal performance under the direction of Dr. Sharon Mabry. In the Summer of 2000, she studied in Nice, France with internationally acclaimed voice coach and accompanist, Dalton Baldwin and French coloratura, Elisabeth Vidal at the Academie Internationale dete de Nice.
In April, Carr will be singing the role of Cunegonde in APSU opera theatres production of Candide. She has appeared as soloist with the Nashville Symphony and Symphony Chorus, Blacksburg Master Chorale and the Nashville Mormon Choir. She has also appeared as Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus at APSU and Marion Paroo in The Music Man at Mars Hill College.
Wade has specialized in contemporary music, as recitalist and accompanist. She has won particular recognition for her collaboration with singers in interpreting twentieth century music and has premiered works by American composers. She has appeared in concerts sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, Tennessee Arts Commission, Nashville Institute for the Arts, and Nashville Community Concerts. Recitals include appearances on WGBH Boston, MPR, International Congress on Women in Music (Alaska), National Gallery of Art (Washington ), Quad Cities Arts Series (Iowa), and many others throughout the eastern and southern United States and England.
Most recently she has performed as accompanist at the Monteagle Assembly Summer Concert Series, the Tennessee Music Educators Association Fellowship Auditions (first place winner ), the TMEA Convention, Metropolitan Opera Auditions, Christmas Joy Concert (two-piano), and Christmas Festival Concerts (Choral).
Wade is active as recitalist on Dimensions New Music Series and as staff accompanist at Austin Peay State University, Adjunct Artist Teacher at Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, Adjunct Piano Faculty at Austin Peay State University, choral accompanist at Brentwood United Methodist Church, and piano teacher in a private studio she maintains. She is pianist on two recordings of music for voice and piano on the OWL and Aolian labels. She received her Bachelor of Music from Birmingham Southern and her Master of music from George Peabody College. She lives in Brentwood, Tenn.
The Recitals in the Rotunda are filmed by the Multimedia Department of The Renaissance Center for broadcast on local cable access channel 19 on the show High Notes. Airing on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m. High Notes gives Dickson County viewers the chance to immerse themselves in great music from talented local artists.
