The Renaissance Center’s music faculty will display its varied talents in a special classical recital Saturday, March 23, in the center’s Performance Hall.
The event is designed not only to entertain the public, but also to show the caliber of instructors The Renaissance Center employs to teach those who want to learn or improve their musical skills.
Among the faculty performers at the recital will be Leslie Hudson, adjunct instructor, and Harvey Earls, instructor in Piano and Clarinet, playing Dvorak piano duets; Jenny Diamond, choir instructor, singing with pianist Marianne Wakeman accompanying; Charles Li, instructor in Suzuki and Traditional Violin and Viola, on violin, accompanied by Earls; piano solos by Earls; a Mozart quartet for piano, viola, clarinet and cello with Elaine Sherrill, senior director of Music, Earls, Li and Lora Brown, instructor in Suzuki and Traditional Violin, Viola, Cello and Suzuki Piano; and Steve Dial, adjunct instructor, on guitar.
“We thought it would be nice to showcase our instructors in a classical recital so that the community will know the caliber of musicianship that The Renaissance Center employs,” Sherrill said.
Earls said the concert is an opportunity for the community to relax and enjoy the music.
“We look forward to providing a relaxing evening of music to the community,” he said. “We continue to present concerts at little or no cost to the public as a service to Dickson and surrounding counties, and we hope the public will continue to take advantage of these opportunities.”
The music department at The Renaissance Center employs a variety of instructors to meet the diverse needs of students through both private and group instruction and vocal instruction. Classes offer a variety of styles, including classical, jazz and improvisation.
“I am pleased to see the faculty participate in a classical recital of their own,” Brown said. “The culmination of style and ability are sure to make this event a classic.”
The recital is 7 p.m. March 23 in the Performance Hall at The Renaissance Center. Tickets are $5 adults and $3 seniors and children under 13.
