Jeff and Sheri Easter Bring Feel-Good Gospel Music to The Renaissance Center
Release Date: 2/5/2002. Expired: 3/14/2002
Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Jeff and Sheri Easter are living out the desire of their hearts today as they share their music with people everywhere, and they will take The Renaissance Center stage Thursday, March 14, for a feel-good gospel music concert in partnership with Solid Gospel 105-FM.
It was August 1984 when Jeff and Sheri met at an Albert E. Brumley Sundown to Sunup gospel singing in Springdale, Ark. Jeff was playing bass guitar for the Singing Americans at the time, and Sheri was traveling and singing with her family, The Lewis Family. Jeff wanted to get to know Sheri so he went over and reminded Sheri’s mother who he was. She introduced him to Sheri and in June 1985 Jeff and Sheri were married and they both traveled and sang with the Lewis Family until the end of 1988.
Jeff has been involved with music all his life, first with his own family, The Easter Brothers, and later he played with Gold City, the Singing Americans and the Lewis Family.
Sheri began singing with a group from her church called Present Truth, and went on to sing with the Lewis Family until she and Jeff formed their own group. In 1989 Sheri became a member of a female trio called Heirloom and was featured on their first single, There’s Still Power in the Blood. She joined them for another project recorded in 1995 entitled Hymns That Last Forever.
In 1996 Jeff and Sheri did their first concept video on Let the Little Things Go, recorded at the Texas State Capitol in Austin. The video won Best Concept Video from the Hearts of Flame Awards.
Over the years the Easters had two children, built their own home, which includes a recording studio in the back yard, and have won numerous awards, including a Dove award in 1998 for A Work in Progress. Sheri has won the Singing News Favorite Alto Award seven times and Female Vocalist four times. She also has won Favorite Female Vocalist several times through the Gospel Voice Diamond Awards, and the group won Christian Country Group and Christian Country Song in 1996. They have been nominated for several Dove Awards and a Grammy.
Jeff and Sheri’s group consists of drummer Greg Ritchie, soprano harmony singer Charlotte Ritchie, instrumentalist Bryan Carter, and bus driver Eric Tricas.
Jeff and Sheri continue to share the gospel through their music, bringing hope and encouragement to people everywhere they go.
Jeff and Sheri Easter perform 7 p.m. Thursday, March 14, in the Performance Hall at The Renaissance Center. Tickets are $12.
