The month of March brings yet another musical mix to The Renaissance Center’s popular Recitals in the Rotunda series.

On Monday, March 4, the series presents the Trillium Trio with a program of folk and other genres of music.

She has played in the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the LaFosse Baroque Orchestra, and most recently with the Tennessee Philharmonic. She studied flute with Doriot Dwyer, Leone Buyse, and Betty Mather and performed in many master classes with Peter Lloyd. She is taking a break from teaching Suzuki flute to raise her two children.

Linda Harmon is the pianist for the trio. She holds degrees in piano performance from Belmont University and Western Kentucky University, where she studies with Sylvia Kersenbaum. Her professional activities include accompanying, arranging and teaching. She has been on the piano faculty at Belmont University since 1987 and is a frequent adjudicator in Nashville.

Sari de Leon-Reist, cello, received her bachelor’s degree in music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Irene Sharp. She is a member of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and plays with the Nashville Symphony. She is on the faculty of the Valley Conservatory of Music and the Allegro School of Music.

Expect some serious picking, grinning and toe tapping when the Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble brings the traditional music of Appalachia to the continuing series Monday, March 18.

In the 10 years since its creation, The Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble has become known as a popular entity among many performing groups at Belmont University’s prestigious School of Music.

This group of talented and creative students is devoted to the study and performance of bluegrass music. The instrumentation of the group is that of a traditional bluegrass band including fiddle, mandolin, guitar, dobro and upright bass. The members of the group hail from all across the United States and abroad.

Originally formed by Dr. Dan Landes and currently led by Michael McLain, the Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble performs some traditional material as well as original, contemporary bluegrass and acoustic music and is dedicated to providing an opportunity for the exploration and performance of the various styles of bluegrass music.

The Trillium Trio performs Monday, March 4, and the Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble performs 7 p.m. Monday, March 18, in the rotunda at The Renaissance Center. Admission is free.

In April, recitals will include David Loucky, the Blair School Suzuki students, the Belmont Chorale, Wesley Baldwin’s Cello Master Class, and the Williamson County Community Band.
