Release Date: 4/21/2006. Expired: 5/4/2006

The Renaissance Center’s community vocal ensembles will present fun and entertaining spring concerts in May.

Directed by Jenny Diamond, there are two choirs for children performing Tuesday, May 2, and two adult community ensembles performing Thursday, May 4.

Training Choir and Children’s Choir

The Renaissance Center’s Training Choir is comprised of students in first and second grades while the Children’s Choir consists of third- through sixth-grade students. The choirs rehearse once a week and present at least two annual concerts in the center’s Performance Hall.

The Training Choir concentrates on teaching students the fundamentals of music reading and vocal technique and no audition is required. The Children’s Choir is a treble choir and membership is by audition each fall.

The Training Choir and Children’s Choir will be performing a wide range of music from folk songs to classical to bluegrass to patriotic pieces in its 7 p.m. concert Tuesday, May 2. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 13.

“Come and join the fun as you enjoy an evening of the beauty of children’s voices united in song,” said Diamond.

Community Choir and Chamber Choir

The Community Choir is an opportunity for amateur or experienced adult singers to participate in a well-trained vocal ensemble. Auditions for the choir are held each fall and the choir rehearses weekly. The Chamber Choir is a smaller ensemble created to perform more difficult choral pieces and also requires an audition for membership.

The Community Choir and Chamber Choir will present an evening of outstanding vocal performances including jazz, bluegrass, classical and patriotic pieces at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in the Performance Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 13.

“Join us for a night of singing as you absorb the rich talent our community has to offer,” said Diamond.
