Mezzo soprano Susan Dupont performs in Renaissance Center recital series Nov. 14

Dr. Susan M. Dupont presents Storms, Streams and Seas: Water in Song as part of the 2nd Monday Night Recitals in the Rotunda series at The Renaissance Center in Dickson Nov. 14.
The free 7 p.m. concert in the center’s rotunda will feature the mezzo soprano performing music by Faure, Elgar, Brahms, Schumann and others.
Dupont has performed extensively in Tennessee, appearing in solo roles with the Knoxville Opera, Tennessee Opera Theater, Vanderbilt Opera Theater and in oratorio performances with the Oak Ridge Symphony, the University of the South, Middle Tennessee State University, Nashville Pro Musica, Hendersonville Community Chorus and Trevecca Nazarene College, among others.
She is an active recitalist and has appeared regularly in the Lenten Interludes Recital Series, the Scarritt-Bennett Center Vespers Series, the Monteagle Assembly Platform, the Christ Church Cathedral Recital Series and most recently on the Trevecca Nazarene College Recital Series. She has appeared on WNPT in Handel’s Messiah and a recital with string quartet featuring Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater is available on CD.
Dupont studied in Munich in 1988 with Dutch soprano Elly Ameling and German baritone Walter Berry with the International Institute for Chamber Music and was presented in recital there. The Massachusetts native received her Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley College and a Ph.D. in History of Art from The Johns Hopkins University. She has studied voice and coached with Margaret Harshaw of Indiana University, Rudolf Jansen of Amsterdam and Gerald Arthur of Nashville.
She maintains a private voice studio in Nashville and held the post of alto soloist at Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville 1979-2004. She is currently a charter member of the a capella Renaissance ensemble Collegium Vocale.
Dupont will be accompanied by pianist Patricia Wade for Monday night’s recital at The Renaissance Center.
The 2nd Monday Night Recitals in the Rotunda series features free monthly performances by professional musicians, faculty and accomplished students from area universities, and community ensembles. Sponsored by The Harp School, Inc. and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, the concerts are at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in The Renaissance Center’s rotunda.
