Travis LeDoyt: A Tribute to the King, appears at the Renaissance Center in Dickson, TN for a very special engagement on Friday, June 24, 2005 at 7:30 pm. Although not an immediate fan of Elvis, as Travis LeDoyt got to know more about the man and his music, he came to understand why Elvis was dubbed and will forever be known, as “The King of Rock & Roll.” Particularly appealing to Travis are Elvis’s early years, the Sun Record years. It was a time when a kid from nowhere became a legend, not only for his music, but for his generosity, his humility and his desire to be an individual. It is with the utmost admiration and respect for Elvis, that Travis LeDoyt offers his tribute to the man who shaped a generation.

Born in 1977, the year that Elvis died, Travis never had the opportunity to see “The King.” Through his remarkable resemblance and his incredible talent to emulate and perform the voice and style, Travis flawlessly captures the essence of Elvis in his prime, specializing in the years from 1954 to 1959. One of Elvis’ contemporaries, rocker Johnny Rivers said of Travis after seeing him perform, “He is the closest thing to young Elvis I have ever seen.”

Travis was one of the top prospects for the “Elvis” miniseries currently running on CBS. He was asked to come for a private audition and was called back more than once to read for the series’ producers and CBS executives. He is also the youngest performer to ever headline the Tupelo Music Festival in Tupelo, MS, Elvis’ hometown. 2005 marks Travis’ third consecutive appearance.
