CyberSphere’s Dark Side of Oz could mean preview trip to The Village

A trip to The Dark Side of Oz on Saturday night could win you passes to a sneak preview of M. Night Shyamalan’s The Village or other merchandise from the new movie.
Through a special arrangement with Touchstone Pictures and Allied Advertising, the CyberSphere Digital Theater at The Renaissance Center will be giving away sneak preview passes, t-shirts, posters and stickers from the new movie at Saturday night’s showing of The Dark Side of Oz.
The passes are for a sneak preview of The Village at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at the Regal Hollywood 27 in Nashville. The Village opens nationwide on July 30. The Village was directed by Shyamalan, who also directed Signs, Unbreakable and The Sixth Sense.
The Dark Side of Oz is a special show presented by the CyberSphere to investigate the rock and roll legend that Pink Floyd’s legendary album The Dark Side of the Moon is somehow synchronized to the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. The show consists of The Dark Side of the Moon played on the dome’s 14,000-watt digital SurroundSound system along with video from the movie as well as laser and special effects.
The Dark Side of Oz plays at 9:15 p.m. this Saturday and tickets are $6. Anyone presenting a ticket stub from the Renaissance Players community theatre production of The Wizard of Oz will receive a $2 discount.
The Wizard of Oz wraps up its highly successful three-week run in The Renaissance Center’s Performance Hall this weekend as well, with shows at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $7 for children under 13.
The CyberSphere will continue to present The Dark Side of Oz at 9 p.m. on Saturdays through August.
The Saturday schedule for the CyberSphere also includes a special return presentation of Ring World, a planetarium show that examines the planet Saturn as well as the current space mission that has the Cassini spacecraft in orbit around the ringed planet. Ring World shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturdays and tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and children.
At 3 p.m. in the laser show Southern Jam, featuring some of the best in southern rock and roll from Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Allman Brothers, Molly Hatchet and more along with laser effects. Tickets are $6.
The 8 p.m. show is Digistar Amusement Park, in which viewers experience the sensation of being on computer-generated thrill rides. Tickets are $5.
The CyberSphere Digital Theater is a four-story, domed, interactive venue at The Renaissance Center in Dickson. It houses state-of-the-art starfield and laser projectors, more than a dozen slide, video and effects projectors and a 14,000-watt digital SurroundSound system.
