A trip to the CyberSphere Digital Theater at The Renaissance Center this weekend could send you through the universe with passes to a sneak preview of the new movie The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy from Walt Disney Pictures.

The first 10 people to purchase tickets for the 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. shows on Saturday, April 23, will receive passes for two people to a special preview of the new movie at Green Hills Cinema 16 on April 26.

Passes will be presented to the first 10 ticket buyers for each show beginning 30 minutes prior to show time. Each pass is good for two admissions to the preview.

A four-story, domed, interactive theater, the CyberSphere presents planetarium and laser music shows each Saturday using state-of-the-art starfield and laser projectors with a 14,000-watt digital SurroundSound system.

The 8 p.m. show on Saturday is Laser Retro, a flashback to the techno pop of the 1980s. Songs include Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears, One Thing Leads to Another by The Fixx, Message in a Bottle by The Police, Rio by Duran Duran, Sweet Dreams by The Eurythmics, New Sensation by INXS, Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood and more.

The CyberSphere’s 9 p.m. show Saturday is Laser Vinyl, featuring some of the top album rock of the 1970s. The show includes Back in Black by AC/DC, Jump by Van Halen, Carry On Wayward Son by Kansas, Dream On by Aerosmith, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen and much more.

Tickets for each show are $6 per person.

Both shows include spectacular effects from one of the world’s first 360-degree laser projectors capable of producing more than 1 trillion colors and a starfield projector capable of producing up to 9,000 stars and constellations as well as any image that can be generated by a computer.

Based on the radio play and novels by Doug Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy opens in theaters nationwide Friday, April 29. The sneak preview is being offered at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Regal Cinemas Green Hills Cinema 16, 3815 Green Hills Village Drive in Nashville.

The movie follows Earthman Arthur Dent, who hitches a ride on a passing spacecraft just before Earth is destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass. As a novice space traveler, the greatest adventure in the universe begins when the world ends.

While each pass is good for two admissions to the preview, seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis and pass winners are urged to arrive early since admission is not guaranteed. One pass will be presented to the first 10 people purchasing a ticket to either the 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. shows beginning at 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively. Passes are not offered for advance ticket purchases.
