Release Date: 10/14/2003. Expired: 10/25/2003
DEI Marathon set for Halloween night
In one of its most bizarre cases to date, the Dark Encounters Investigated team tries to decipher the ramblings of a catatonic man in the latest episode of the popular “docudrama” produced by the Multimedia Department at The Renaissance Center.
The Somnambulist, the sixth program in the series created by the Multimedia Department, will debut at The Renaissance Center’s 4th annual Halloween Festival on Saturday, Oct. 25. The program will be aired three times back to back 4-5:30 p.m. in lecture hall E105.
The program will be broadcast for the first time on the Renaissance Channel (Comcast 19 in Dickson) at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, to conclude a six-episode Dark Encounters Investigated marathon for Halloween.
In The Somnambulist, Dr. Nathan Swane and his team of paranormal investigators observe Andrew Welk, a man who has been in a catatonic state since suffering what his physician believes was a stroke. But Andrew’s brother Wayne claims Andrew occasionally has some kind of “spells” in which he talks and sketches out some rough drawings.
Luna Divynne, field paranormalist for the team, believes that Andrew might be “channeling” a spirit with a message to be delivered from beyond the living world.
Also troubling EMF Analyst Jake Manley of the DEI team is the mysterious disappearance of a third brother, Aaron, several years earlier.
To find out where the investigation leads the DEI team, check out the premiere of The Somnambulist at the Halloween Festival on Oct. 25 or tune in to the DEI marathon on Halloween night. The show will continue to air in the regular Dark Encounters Investigated timeslots of 8 p.m. Thursdays, 12:30 p.m. Saturdays and 6:30 p.m. Sundays over the following month.
In addition to the debut of the new episode, the Oct. 25 Halloween Festival also will feature the unveiling of the first Dark Encounters Investigated DVD. The special package, on sale that day in the Virtually Unlimited Bookstore, contains The Backroad Vampire and The Legend of Werewolf Springs episodes as well as the original lost pilot episode, Hunt for the White Screamer. As a bonus the DEI DVD also contains behind the scenes pictures, previously unseen footage and a special director’s commentary.
In addition to the debut of The Somnambulist, the Oct. 31 DEI marathon will include The Backroad Vampire at 7 p.m., The Legend of Werewolf Springs at 7:30 p.m., The Whispering Well at 8 p.m., The House on Spencer Street at 8:30 p.m. and The Kelly House at 9 p.m.
