Ringing in The Dickson County Dinner Bell

Release Date: 4/1/2000. Expired: 4/30/2000

Multimedia Department produces Dickson’s first cooking show for local cable access Channel 19

They’re cooking up a storm in The Renaissance Center’s television studio.

In addition to producing all original programming such as My Studio, Focus on Your Health, High Notes and The Doug & Bob Show, Dickson’s first cooking show has been added to the mix.

According to Ralph Easley, host and producer, The Dickson County Dinner Bell will feature local residents who are known for their special dishes. “Dickson County and our surrounding communities have some of the best cooks in the world. Our guest cooks will share their recipes and techniques with us and the local television audience.”

As host of the show and lifelong Dickson resident, Ralph Easley doesn’t admit to being one of the best cooks in the world, but he does admit to being one of the best eaters in the world which he claims as the necessary criteria to judge “good country cookin.”

The first guest on the show is Janet Cluck (pictured above with Ralph Easley) with the local University of Tennessee extension office.

Viewers are not only in for an appetizing feast on The Dickson County Dinner Bell, but a musical treat as well. A number of traditional tunes are arranged and performed by Andrew Winner, The Renaissance Center’s Director of Guitar Studies. A classical guitarist by training, Andrew branches out and explores the styles of “flat picking” and “thumb picking” for a down home sound to appropriately accompany the show.

The Dickson County Dinner Bell airs Monday through Friday at 5 p.m., and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
