The Renaissance Center Dinner Theatre
Release Date: 8/1/2000. Expired: 12/30/2000
August 2000
Dinner and a show used to mean driving to Nashville. Not any more.
Beginning in September, The Renaissance Center in Dickson will be presenting dinner theatre every Friday night. For just $25 per person, the evening includes a catered meal and a musical theatre production in the intimate setting of the Gaslight Dinner Theatre.
“The Dinner Theatre Series is the latest arts and entertainment offering of The Renaissance Center,” said Doug Jackson, executive director. “We are constantly looking for ways to provide cultural entertainment options for the people of Middle Tennessee. Dinner theatre joins the center's offerings of planetarium and laser shows in the exciting CyberSphere, our regular Saturday Series of repertory and science theatre shows along with our theater and concert series.”
Dinner theatre debuts Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 in the Gaslight Dinner Theatre, which by day is the Faraday Science Theatre. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. with the program to begin at 7:30 p.m.
While reservations are not required, they are recommended due to limited seating. Reservations should be made at (615)740-5600 by noon on the Friday of each performance.
“Dinner theatre is an exciting new opportunity and challenge for The Renaissance Center,” Partlow said. “It is an opportunity to present a wider variety of shows with revues that include musical numbers and both original and familiar theatre scenes in a much more intimate setting. The actors are much closer to the audience in a smaller theatre and it is fun and challenging to produce shows to fit the setting.”
“We have some wonderful talent on staff at The Renaissance Center and dinner theatre will provide us with another venue to showcase our entertainers,” Harp said. “We will be combining the talents of our Rep Co. actors, musicians and vocalists in a unique blend of music, comedy and drama.”
In addition to the regular Friday night performances, The Renaissance Center Dinner Theatre can be booked other evenings for private groups of 25 or more people.
“The dinner theatre is a wonderful offering for church, civic and business groups, senior organizations and even birthdays and reunions,” said LeAnn Polk, director of events at The Renaissance Center.
Any group of 25 or more interested in booking a dinner theatre program can contact Polk at (615)740-5503.
