Second Anniversary Celebration / Fall Registration Kick-Off

Release Date: 8/1/2001. Expired: 8/4/2001

The Renaissance Center celebrates its second anniversary Aug. 4 with an afternoon of free class demonstrations and performances. The celebration also kicks off registration for the fall semester of classes, which begins Aug. 20.

“It’s hard to believe we are approaching our second anniversary,” said Executive Director Doug Jackson. “More than 150,000 people have had the opportunity over the last two years to visit The Renaissance Center to take a class, see a show, visit the art gallery or bookstore or just take a look around.”

The 2nd anniversary celebration will give people a chance to see demonstrations of and learn more information about classes they might be interested in taking as well as meet many of the center’s faculty. Many of the center’s music faculty also will be performing and hosting a question-and-answer session on their class offerings.

Registration for the 15-week fall semester begins during the anniversary celebration and continues through the beginning of the first classes on Aug. 20. The center’s new fall/winter 2001 program guide is now available with complete information on all art, music, drama and technology classes. The Renaissance Center also has been named a Microsoft Certified Technology Education Center (CTEC), meaning a completely new slate of computer and technology classes will be offered this fall.

“We continue to develop our programs to meet the needs and desires of the public and the business community,” Jackson said. “With the new CTEC status from Microsoft, we will be entering the technology training field with a greatly expanded schedule of class offerings as well as the opportunity to offer computer training for businesses and corporations.”

The Aug.4 2nd anniversary celebration begins at 1 p.m. with free activities through 7 p.m. The evening will include the regular ticketed CyberSphere shows at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. The celebration schedule is:
