Dark Encounters Investigated marathons at center & on Renaissance Channel
Release Date: 10/8/2002. Expired: 10/31/2002
Fans of Dark Encounters Investigated, The Renaissance Center Multimedia Department’s paranormal investigations program, will get the chance to peek behind the scenes and see the latest four episodes in two upcoming marathons.
The show, which airs on The Renaissance Channel (Comcast 19), is a ‘docu-fictional’ look at paranormal activity and urban legends. In its first year, it has investigated stories from reports of vampires and werewolves to two houses with supposed paranormal activity resulting from past tragedies.
Created by Craig Anderson, studio manager at The Renaissance Center, Dark Encounters Investigated (DEI) has found a growing audience in its melodramatic presentation of high tech investigations into the supernatural. What started out as a local access cable show about local legends turned into much more.
“We live in times rich with legend and folklore,” said Anderson, as his TV persona J.C. Huerr. “Investigating them is not a task we take lightly. If there’s truth to be found, we will find it. Whether it’s a ghost, werewolf, or a well spun yarn, we’re going to try to wrestle it to the ground for the camera. We’re not satisfied with taking pictures of orbs or fuzzy little out-of-focus things and calling them ghosts. We fight to take it to the next level!”
During The Renaissance Center’s 3rd annual Halloween Festival on Oct. 26, the DEI episodes will be shown in room E105 beginning at 4:30 p.m. Additionally, Dr. Nathan Swane, the head of the investigation team played by Brad Diamond, will be on hand to introduce the marathon, and some DEI equipment and artifacts from the series will be on display.
The Oct. 26 marathon schedule at The Renaissance Center is:
4:30 p.m. - The Backroad Vampire;
5:00 p.m. - The Legend of Werewolf Springs;
5:45 p.m. - The Whispering Well;
6:30 p.m. - The House on Spencer Street.
There will also be information about the show’s new Web site, www.dei-tv.com.
“This is a chance to get a first-hand look at some of the equipment the team uses in its investigations as well as to see some of the unusual artifacts turned up by some of the investigations,” said Anderson. “You’ll also get the chance to meet Dr. Nathan Swane, who leads the team of paranormal investigators.”
Viewers on the local access channel will get the chance to see the four cases as well as some never-before-seen footage and special guests during a Dark Encounters Investigated marathon on Halloween night.
“Dr. Swane will be hosting the marathon and will be talking with several special guests before and after each episode,” Anderson said. “There also will be some new footage from The Backroad Vampire episode that has never been aired.”
The Oct. 31 marathon schedule on The Renaissance Channel is:
8:00 p.m. - The Backroad Vampire;
8:30 p.m. - The Legend of Werewolf Springs;
9:00 p.m. - The Whispering Well;
9:30 p.m. - The House on Spencer Street.
The program also will be the official unveiling of the show’s new Web site, which features information on each episode, profiles of the investigative team members, a history of the team and much more.
“Don’t miss history in the making with your chance to see the latest four episodes back to back and some rare behind-the-scenes looks at the show,” said Anderson. “Remember. Knowledge is your best weapon. Stay informed.”
