Its going to be one giant birthday party.
On Saturday, August 12, The Renaissance Center will open its doors for a family day of fun in addition to a sneak peek at the fall line-up of classes and events as the Center celebrates its first year anniversary.
“It doesnt seem possible that a year has gone by since we opened our doors last August,” said Doug Jackson, executive director. “We want to have a day where we express our thanks to the tens of thousands of people in our community who have enrolled in our classes, visited us on field trips, and attended our concerts, plays and laser shows. Come celebrate with us a year of remarkable growth.”
A First Anniversary Ceremony will kick off the day at 9 a.m. with awards presentations to Students of the Year in art, music, drama and multimedia. The Renaissance Centers Employee of the Year and Ambassador of the Year will also be announced.
Dream Mission, a true replica of a NASA space shuttle which travels to schools throughout the southeast, will be in the parking lot throughout the day.
While a reception from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. will conclude the days activities of free events, classes and demonstrations, the fun doesnt stop there.
Laser shows beginning at 8 and 9 p.m. are also ticketed events at the regular price of $6.
