Release Date: 1/15/2002. Expired: 3/15/2002
Senior visitors to The Renaissance Center can enjoy a great lunch and a live theatre production in The Renaissance Center’s Gaslight Dinner Theatre as the Senior Lunch Theatre program continues.
Established last fall, the Senior Lunch Theatre program features the same professional productions as shown each Friday evening in the Gaslight, but at a reduced price of only $15 for patrons 55 and older. Senior lunch theatre begins at noon with a buffet meal and the show to follow.
“This is something we really enjoy providing for our senior friends,” said Pacer Harp, manager for the Gaslight Dinner Theatre. “This program has been extremely successful from its inception and we want our senior visitors to continue to experience the joy of live theatre at its best here at The Renaissance Center.”
Space is limited and advance reservations are required.
Upcoming lunch theatre shows this spring include:
Monday, Feb. 25, I Do! I Do!
This 1967 Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of The Four Poster by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones, authors of The Fantasticks, begins with Michael and Agnes on their wedding day and traces their life together over 50 years. The hit song My Cup Runneth Over came from I Do! I Do! The originally scheduled senior lunch theatre for Feb. 11 is sold out. A second date has been added for Feb. 25.
Monday, April 22, The Star Spangled Girl
This fast-paced, hilarious comedy deals with two earnest young men struggling to publish a political magazine from their apartment and the all-American girl who moves in next door and manages to send both of them into a romantic tailspin. A delightful blend of love and politics in a bubbling series of events is this comedic masterpiece by Neil Simon.
Monday, June 10, Closer Than Ever
Closer Than Ever is a musical revue by David Shire and Richard Maltby, Jr., in which each song is a story. It’s a satirical, soul-searching and insightful tale of love, security and happiness, and holding on to all of those things in a world that’s going a hundred different directions all at once.
