September 19 will mark the Humane Society of Dickson’s 9th annual art auction, ARTSTOCK, and its success is more important than ever. Artstock has always been one of the Humane Society’s largest fundraisers. Jackie Hale, Humane Society Board Member, says “This year’s auction is critical to the Humane Society’s continued survival.” Artstock has the potential to raise much needed funds to help position the Humane Society to get back on our feet. Hale said “The public has continued to be charitable since we had to make the heart wrenching decision to stop accepting animals but we are a long way from being where we need to be financially.”

This year’s art auction will again be held in the Renaissance Center Rotunda. Lacey Nelson, Humane Society volunteer, says “one of the difficulties we have faced in the past is to get new people to attend this event. It is truly a unique event to our area. I guarantee anyone that comes will have a great time even if they don’t walk away with a piece of art.” One ticket to the auction includes light reception, entertainment as well as the auction.

Beverly Caldwell, owner of Studio 123, who has helped organize and find participating artists for years says “ARTSTOCK is such a great event. At no other time in Dickson is there such a diverse group of artists’ work available for sale at one location.” Over twenty pieces of work in various mediums have already been donated for this years’ auction.

Art can be viewed at the Humane Society’s website www.DicksonHumane.org. Art work is currently on display at TriStar Bank’s Main Office and will be until the auction. Artwork will also be previewed at the Renaissance Center from September 14 until September 19. Reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and the live auction begins at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19. “Artstock provides a wonderful opportunity for local artists and, most importantly, it supports an important cause.” said Bob Kucher, Director of Visual Art for the Renaissance Center. “We hope everyone will come out and enjoy a fun evening.”

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Light reception will be served at 6 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7:00 p.m.
