Kucher earned his Bachelor of Science in Art Education from PSU in 1994.

Kucher and another student co-founded a student chapter of The National Art Education Association. The 30-member Penn State group worked in the arts with local schools and colleges by holding workshops and helping teachers, working at arts festivals and various other activities.

Educators at Penn State also acknowledged his work when he was nominated as Student Teacher of the Year in 1994.

He also taught at various Penn State campuses before moving to Tennessee where he taught at Pearl-Cohn Arts Magnet School in Nashville. He spent three months as a practitioner at the Southeast Institute for Education in the Visual Arts at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1996. From summer through fall of that same year he served as a part-time Visual Arts instructor at the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center, and in December he signed on as Visual Arts instructor at Huntland School in Winchester. From 1997 to 1999 he taught Visual Arts at Antioch High School in Nashville, and in July 1999 he came to The Renaissance Center, where after only a few months as an instructor he was appointed head of the department.

Kucher left The Renaissance Center in 2003 for his current position with the Tennessee Arts Commission.

“We are excited to have Bob serve as juror for the Renaissance Regional Art Exhibit,” said Curtis Southerland, curator of the Visual Arts Gallery. “Bob was a wonderful leader in creating the Visual Arts Department here at The Renaissance Center and is a tireless promoter of the arts who now uses his talents to assist statewide.”

In addition to selecting the 33 pieces to be displayed in the Visual Arts Gallery, Kucher also selected several pieces for judge’s awards and cash prizes.
