North Wing Gallery features first exhibit of works by Helen Potts
Release Date: 9/1/2005. Expired: 11/5/2005
Dickson resident Helen Potts has been studying with the art staff at The Renaissance Center for several years and will have her first exhibit of her work in the center’s North Wing Gallery Sept. 23-Nov. 5.
An opening reception with the artist will be 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23. Admission to the exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.
“Helen has been taking classes at the center for some time now and during those years she has found the secret of what it takes to become successful with one’s art - lots of self-discipline,” said Curtis Southerland, art instructor and gallery curator at The Renaissance Center. “Her classes here were her first attempt to create fine pieces of artwork. And that she has definitely done.”
Potts has created numerous pieces of art in various mediums, including colored pencil, acrylics, oils and pencil. The strong desire Potts has to constantly create is reflected in her work, whether it is portraits, self-portraits, still lifes or conceptual renderings of an idea.
Potts’ works will be on display Sept. 23-Nov. 5 in the North Wing Gallery.
