Renaissance Players set auditions for The Music Man on April 14-15

The Renaissance Players will hold open auditions for a community production of The Music Man 6 p.m. April 14 and 15 at The Renaissance Center in Dickson.

Auditions for actors ages 5-14 will be Monday, April 14, while actors 15 and up will audition Tuesday, April 15. Those auditioning should prepare 16 measures from any song and provide the sheet music in the correct key or an accompaniment tape or CD.

To help prepare for the auditions, The Renaissance Center will host a Mock Audition Workshop 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, April 12. The workshop will be conducted by Bryan J. Wlas, resident choreographer, and Nathan W. Brown, resident musical director, and tuition is $15. The production is being directed by Tracy Nichols.

Performances of The Music Man will be 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. June 13-22. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 55 and over and $7 for children under 13. A special lunch matinee will be at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 14. Tickets are $20 and include a lunch buffet and the performance.

The Music Man has become one of the most-produced musicals across the country since its Broadway debut in 1957. Meredith Willson’s play includes some of theatre’s most memorable songs, like Trouble, Goodnight, My Someone, Shipoopi, Til There Was You (which was recorded by The Beatles) and 76 Trombones.
