Renaissance Players set 'Once Upon a Mattress' auditions for Jan. 26-27

The Renaissance Players will hold open auditions for a community theatre production of Once Upon a Mattress on Jan. 26 and 27 at The Renaissance Center in Dickson.

Parts are available for males and females ages 13 and up. Auditions begin at 6 p.m. both nights in the Performance Hall.

Once Upon a Mattress is a musical comedy based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Performances will be March 27-April 5.

Those auditioning should have prepared 16 measures from any song with the sheet music in the correct key. There also will be available a tape/CD player for those wishing to sing with other accompaniment. Come in comfortable clothing as you may be asked to dance.

To help prepare for the auditions, there will be a Mock Audition Workshop 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24. Workshop tuition is $15.

Participants can bring the sheet music or accompaniment music for their audition songs to get individual assistance and also learn a dance combination that will be used in the auditions.
