Renaissance Players set auditions for Annie Oct. 16-17
Release Date: 10/5/2006. Expired: 10/17/2006
Open auditions for the Renaissance Players community production of Annie will be Monday, Oct. 16, for young actors ages 6-14 and Tuesday, Oct. 17, for actors 15 and older. Auditions begin at 6 p.m. both nights and callbacks will be on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 18 and 19.
Hal Partlow, manager of the Renaissance Repertory Company, will be directing Annie for the Renaissance Players and said he expects to cast no fewer than 40 children for the show, both boys and girls, and that any parents of children auditioning on Monday who want to audition themselves can do so on Monday as well.
Those auditioning will need to have 16 measures of a song prepared with the sheet music in the appropriate key or provide a CD or tape. Auditionees should dress appropriately for a dance/movement audition.
For anyone considering auditioning for Annie but not sure what to expect, The Renaissance Center will conduct a Mock Audition Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a 9 a.m.-12 p.m. session for children and a 1-3 p.m. session for adults. Tuition for the workshop is $15.
Bryan J. Wlas, the center’s resident choreographer, and Nathan W. Brown, the center’s musical director, will take workshop participants step by step through the audition process, working on dance combinations and helping prepare a song for the audition.
