The Gaslight Dinner Theatre and IdeaPROV, Nashville’s premier improvisational training program, are partnering to present Off Center, two nights of high-powered humor and improvisation, Aug. 12 and 13 at The Renaissance Center in Dickson.
Tickets for Off Center are $10 per person and include dessert, drink and the performance. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Gaslight Dinner Theatre.
The Friday, Aug. 12, program is Rated G for all ages. The Saturday, Aug. 13, program will be rated PG-16 and recommended only for patrons 16 and older.
“Off Center will incorporate live audience suggestions to generate laughs on the spot with no script, no staging and no idea what’s coming next,” said Pacer Harp, managing director of the Gaslight Dinner Theatre. “It promises to be a fun night of non-stop laughs.”
Paul Bellos, founder and director of IdeaPROV, has trained extensively in improvisational humor, including studying at Chicago’s famous The Second City. Bellos worked in Los Angeles as a casting director and actor in television, commercials and film. His credits include appearances in the movies No Way Out and Back to School, commercials for American Express and the USA Network’s Nashville Star.
Bellos has worked for 18 years as an author, corporate trainer and curriculum developer. He has written more than 30 improv programs, including the book Just Kidding! Communicate Through Comedy. He has been featured in performances and seminars by Emory University, Vanderbilt University, Zanies, Borders, Chick-Fil-A and HCA, among others.
Bellos also conducts an Extreme Theatre Camp at The Renaissance Center, where students get to learn more about improvisational theatre.
