Renaissance Players pancake breakfast to benefit Mel Romine Scholarship Fund

The Renaissance Players community theatre troupe will be raising money for the Mel Romine Memorial Scholarship Fund with a Pancake Breakfast at the Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill in Dickson on Saturday, May 20.
The group will be serving breakfast 6:30-9 a.m. Tickets are $5. Tickets are now available at The Renaissance Center, 855 Highway 46 South, Dickson, or by contacting Amy Scott, managing director of the Renaissance Players, at (615)740-5551 or .
The Mel Romine Memorial Scholarship is awarded each summer to a graduating senior who has been an active participant with the Renaissance Players and plans to continue his or her education.
The scholarship is created in memory of Mel Romine, a Renaissance Players member who appeared in seven community theatre productions at The Renaissance Center, including The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Carol, Annie Get Your Gun and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, for which he won a 2003 Jimmy Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Mel was cast in the Renaissance Players production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 2004 when he became ill and passed away.
The Renaissance Center is a fine arts and technology education and performing arts center at 855 Highway 46 South in Dickson, just 35 miles west of Nashville on Interstate 40 at exit 172.
