Through the magic of live musical theater, the all-time favorite Pippi Longstocking comes to life on The Renaissance Center stage in Dickson in a delightful production from American Family Theater’s Broadway for Kids.

From the best-loved story by Astrid Lindgren, Pippi Longstocking has audiences rocking in their seats from coast to coast. This female Dennis the Menace comes to life in a wacky, fun-filled musical that brings a new definition to adventure.

American Family Theater’s award-winning production of Pippi Longstocking has thrilled audiences of all ages nationwide with spectacle, song and special effects.

Tickets for each performance of Pippi Longstocking are $5 for all seats. They can be purchased at The Renaissance Center ticket desk or reserved by calling 615-740-5600.

Pippi Longstocking performances are also being offered at a discount as part of the Astronomy Day activities at The Renaissance Center April 8.

The 2:30 p.m. show is part of the Stargazers package which includes the 10 a.m. CyberSphere show “Larry Cat in Space,” a 12:30 p.m. hands-on Space Art activity and a 1:30 p.m. show in the Faraday Science Theatre.

The 7 p.m. show is part of the Astronomers package which includes the 1 p.m. CyberSphere show “The Explorers,” the 2 p.m. CyberSphere show “The Sky Tonight” and a 3 p.m. show in the Faraday Science Theatre.

Astronomy Day packages are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Leslie Bennett of the New York Times says American Family Theater shows such as Pippi Longstocking keep the attention of children while providing a spirit that even draws in adults.

In 1999, 2.8 million people saw AFT shows which traveled almost 500,000 miles across the United States and Canada. AFT presented shows in 412 different venues and the audiences included 66,000 students sent by 14,000 different school districts.
