Pat Smith is an artist and educator with an undergraduate degree in Studio Art from T.S.U. and a Masters degree in Visual Art Education from Vanderbilt University. Ms. Smith is currently the Chairperson of the Visual Art Department at Antioch High School. She has also taught at Watkins College of Art and Design, and at Cheekwood.
The workshop focused on application of color and pattern to fabric. Immersion and resist dyeing are explored in Fibers and Dyes. Printing on Fabric involves a direct application method using thickened dyes and student-made stamps. These techniques produced unique cloth, which could be utilized for fabric as art of by quilters who want to include original dyed and/or patterned fabrics to enhance their craft.
