$12 adults, $10 seniors 55 and over, $7 children under 13 The Music City Youth Orchestra, a brand new, eclectic youth orchestra based in Nashville, will present its second public concert at The Renaissance Center Saturday, May 31, in the Performance Hall. MCYO was founded in 2007 to establish a student ensemble that will explore traditional and alternative orchestral pieces. MCYO gave its inaugural concert Feb. 9 at the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville with a performance of Corelli, Elgar, Charlie Parker, The Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra, Radiohead and music inspired by the traditions of Ireland, Thailand and the U.S. MCYO has begun its first season as a string orchestra created from auditions held last fall and rehearses weekly at Belmont United Methodist Church. MCYO is currently comprised of 20 Nashville-area students in grades 7-12. The Gypsy Hombres

$12 adults, $10 seniors 55 and over, $8 children under 13 The acoustic violin/guitar-based trio The Gypsy Hombres blends traditional jazz with European, South American and classical music to create a sound unlike any other musical group. The Gypsy Hombres’ repertoire embraces a wide variety of composers and styles: from Brahms and Chopin to George Gershwin, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong to international folk songs, all while retaining the gypsy spirit. But besides just adding their own arrangements and personalities to standards, they are also accomplished composers with several original songs featured on their latest album. The Hombres can also rock the house with a captivating intensity. Equally at ease with swing, tangos and waltzes, the Hombres provide plenty of inspiration for dancing, and their free spirit and natural improvisation can win over any audience. For more information, visit the group’s website at www.gypsyhombres.com.
