Guitar

The Renaissance Center offers a wide variety of Guitar instruction options. An abundance of performance opportunities, master classes and seminars with touring professionals and summer workshops are integral features of guitar instruction.

Mission:

The Renaissance Center provides students of all ages quality guitar instruction at every level of development. Emphasis is placed on musicianship fostered by a positive atmosphere of learning.

Children: Exploring music through guitar

Children are provided with basic fretboard, reading, and listening skills. Sound technical and music rudiments are emphasized in a personal, challenging, and enjoyable setting. Children as young as five are accepted for lessons.

Teens/Young Adults: Recreation and career development

Guitar instruction at The Renaissance Center meets teens/young adults where they are developmentally- beginning to advanced. Concentration is placed on learning skills necessary for becoming a knowledgeable musician. Illustrations and lessons are drawn from the music they enjoy as well as music to broaden their tastes and experiences.

Teens/young adults considering a career in music can receive preparative instruction for college. Skills and repertoire necessary for high levels of performance are explored and developed. This approach is more intensive and requires a greater commitment of time, energy, and discipline.

Adult: It’s never too late to learn

Playing guitar is a wonderful and fulfilling recreation. Many adults are surprised to learn that they can play. We offer instruction for students interested in playing just for fun. Also, instruction is offered to adults who currently play but would like to acquire skills previously unlearned.

Group Guitar Class Offerings:

These lessons are less involved than individual lessons. No one gets left behind. Basic skills and recreation are emphasized. A minimum of three students must be registered in order for any group to meet. No group will exceed 10 students.
